The loss through death of important members of family or friends is the ultimate cause of grief but is an inevitable part of human life.

Bereavement is a major life crisis in the sense that life will never be the same again.

It is however possible to work through grief and build a new and fulfilling life. Although everyone's personal reaction to bereavement is different most people experience some of the following emotional responses (listed below) when someone close to them dies:

Disbelief / Numbness / Shock / Anger / Regrets / Self-Blame / Sadness / Relief / Guilt / Depression / Anxiety / Disturbed appetite & sleep patterns/ Despair / Longing / Loneliness
