Burial or Cremation

Burns Funeral Directors, Tuam, Galway
In most cases the deceased may have left specific instructions about where to be buried or to be cremated and what form the religious service should take.

In all situations Burns Funeral Directors will respect the deceased's wishes while offering our professional advice.

Burial

It is important that all burials be registered with the local authority and the location of the grave noted and this is done by the people who manage the graveyard. If you do not own a grave, it will be necessary to purchase one. This can be arranged by Burns Funeral Directors. A double family grave can accommodate up to four burials.

The grave-digging can be done by either neighbours/friends of the deceased or Burns Funeral Directors can arrange for the grave-digging to be carried out.

Cremation

Cremation facilities are available in Shannon, Dublin and Cork. These facilities are available to everyone from all over the country. Burns Funeral Directors will make sure that all paperwork is in order and liaise with the crematorium on your behalf. In Cremation both the coffin and the deceased are cremated. The ashes are available 24 to 48 hours after the Cremation.

The ashes will be returned to you in an urn and the final resting place for many are to your own personal wishes e.g., existing family grave, garden of remembrance, or a place of special significance.
